This financial grant, up to $500, is given to the woman who is struggling financially and experiences the added burden of a crisis. The Helping Hand Emergency Fund could be used to pay for medical care, a car repair, an unanticipated childcare expense or another crisis.
“When the group of Soroptimists helped my daughter pay some of her medical bills for anorexia, her life became more manageable. In our darkest time, Soroptimists have cast a light of empowerment. We are so very grateful.”
Catherine, mother of recipient
Chosen awardees must have a history or proven record of making positive life choices for themselves and those in their care or understand what must be done to do so. This one-time grant cannot be given at the same time as our other awards. Grant payments are made directly to the supplier of services. As a result of the economic realities of single motherhood, the need for this award is steadily increasing.
