to empower women
Our best time of year is when we present our Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards to up to three single mothers and survivors living in our communities. The potential cash award of $1,000 to $15,000 offers the financial stability they seek as they work to achieve their education goals, reach their full potential and live their dreams.
so girls succeed
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls mentoring shows girls in secondary school how to channel their girl power. Its well-researched curriculum helps them identify their values, explore career opportunities, set goals and overcome obstacles to their success.
for girls' scholarship
Through our Scholarships for High School Seniors program, up to 10 young women entering a post-secondary program receive the needs-based funding and mentorship that empowers them to succeed on campus and in their careers.

to aid families
We stay in close contact with partners running shelters and social services. This allows us to be more specific in our aid to the community of families solely supported by mothers who need help due to domestic upheaval, emergencies or setting up a home after leaving a shelter.

The Woman of Distinction Award
In light of the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, Dr. Kathleen Jameson’s vision is to celebrate women in the arts, such as Lee Krasner (Mrs. Jackson Pollock) the painter of The Sun Woman II, who faced enormous hurdles to achieve recognition. A single mother who began her education in community college while her daughter was still a child, she faced many of the same struggles as our Live Your Dream recipients and the female artists she celebrates.

Kathleen Jameson, art historian, educator and administrator was presented with The Woman of Distinction Award because she met the award criteria of being a woman whose outstanding achievements professionally have been extraordinarily inspirational and impactful to the lives of women and girls.
